Halloween Baby Shower Cupcakes

My friend Leslie had a baby shower this weekend, thrown by several of her mom's friends.
I had to bump my original post planned for today to show you the adorable cupcakes that were served at the shower.
The hostesses decided to go with Halloween-themed cupcakes since the shower was held a couple days before Halloween.  The toppers were made by the talented Lynlee's Petite Cakes
And they were adorable!!  There were cute pumpkin toppers, and the mom-to-be's last name spelled with pumpkins.

I love the ghost-onsie.

And the pregnant witch is my absolute favorite!
You can see the full collection she made for the party here.

Mom-to-be and the pregnant witch! Too cute! Congrats Leslie!

These cupcakes would go very nicely with several of the little pumpkin baby shower ideas that I posted recently...check those out here

Check back tomorrow to see Leslie's other shower.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!
Hope everyone has a safe and fun night -- filled with little cuties in costumes and lots of candy!

PS How pretty is this bedazzled pumpkin?  I spotted it while shopping browsing & dreaming here, and had to share!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game...

People all over town are wearing orange & black. But it isn't for Halloween!
I am so excited for my husband.
Today he is living out one of his childhood dreams: seeing his team play in the World Series.
In honor of this big day, I've visited a few of my go-to sites online to find the best caramel corn Peanuts & Cracker Jacks recipes.
This snack is baseball-appropriate, and fall-appropriate! So check these out, even if you aren't watching the game.
1. Paula Deen's Caramel Corn
2. The Jiffy® Pop Baked Caramel Corn recipe, via Rachael Ray's Everyday
3. Deluxe Caramel Corn by Taste of  Home
4. Martha Stewart's Crunchy Caramel Corn

Hungry yet?

Gooooooooo Giants!

I am Loving: Etsy Trick or Treat Bowls

We don't get many trick-or-treaters at our house, but I still think its important to have a cute bowl for candy.  I've been keeping my eye out in stores, but haven't seen anything that I loved.
Of course when I turned to Etsy, I found lots of cute ones!

My Favorite Halloween Party Games

Of course my two favorite Halloween games as a child are featured on Martha's site in the activity ideas. She's even more of a genius in my book now!
I love both of these...classic fall/Halloween party games that are easy to set up and lend themselves to amazing photos every time!

Donuts on a String (or, even better -- a pretty ribbon)
Cake donuts are tied just above mouth-level. It's a race to see who can eat their donut first without using their hands

Bobbing for Apples
I've found several different versions of the rules for this one.  I think when I was little we played by going one at a time and being timed for who grabs an apple first.
Martha has other ideas on her site as well.

And see Martha for other fun fall games for kids (or adults) as well!
I'm finally starting to get into fall mode... :)

Halloween

I was asked to make a Halloween banner this week.

How was your family's Halloween?
I participated in an awesome trick or treating adventure with some friends who have kids.  There is a street in San Francisco that closes down to traffic and goes all out.  And "all out" is an understatement.
There are people of all ages in amazing costumes everywhere you look.

Dozens of garages are converted into haunted houses.

Every surface of the houses are decorated.

There was no shortage of candy!

The highlight?

The characters of Madagascar doing a live dance show in the windows of one home.

I thought my friend's son might die of excitement at this scene.

Hope your Halloween was fun, with equal parts spooky & sweet!

I am Loving: Booed!

You must head over the TomKat Studio today! I have never heard of this, but I love it! And from reading the comments over at Kim's blog, this is a pretty common tradition.
It's a Halloween version of the May Day tradition of leaving flowers for your neighbors and running. (Both are nice, neighborly ways of "doorbell ditch"-ing.)
TomKat Studio has a free printable sign and instructions to get you going in your own neighborhood.

Have fun!

P.S. There's still a few more days to enter the Michael's gift card giveaway! Remember to enter 3 times if you haven't already!

DIY Idea: Halloween Frames

I fell in love with some adorable Halloween frames in a little boutique while I was on my girls' weekend.  Unfortunately, they were expensive.  So, I tried to recreate them this weekend.

I printed the words onto card stock, and attached them to some Halloween-y fabric remnants with a few small pieces of double sided tape.

Then I sewed them on with black thread, set in a zig-zag stitch.

I taped the fabric around a thin piece of cardboard cut to fit the frames.

A cute little Halloween greeting.

You can download the file with the words I used to make these.  I love this font for Halloween, so I thought I'd share it with you:

Boo

This project was so cheap! 1 sheet of cardstock, a few fabric remnants, 3 cheap frames are all you really  need.

Guess where you can probably get some great cheap frames?  Michael's! Luckily I have a giveaway going on right now! Check it out and enter before time runs out!
